About our Cause

Lewis County for Safe Tech is a citizen-led initiative working to stop the construction of a 150-foot Verizon Wireless cell tower proposed at

262 Skyview Drive in Mossyrock, WA.

This location is a residential lot. The proposed tower would be sited less than 500 feet from multiple homes. This industrial wireless facility raises serious concerns about health, safety, property values, and overall quality of life.

The proposal is being pushed forward in spite of clear and unified opposition from the residents who live in this quiet, close-knit neighborhood.

We are organizing to hold Lewis County accountable and ensure that residents’ rights are protected.

If the county allows this project to move forward despite strong local opposition, it could set a troubling precedent—opening the door for similar developments in other residential neighborhoods.

Why We Oppose the Cell Tower

1. Location Concerns

  • Too Close to Homes and Schools: The proposed tower is dangerously close to homes and children who homeschool.

2. Aesthetic Concerns

  • Visual Pollution: The industrial design of the tower will clash with our community’s natural beauty, creating an eyesore that will dominate the skyline.

  • Destroying Scenic Views: This tall, imposing structure will be very visible from homes, parks, Mayfield Lake, the Cowlitz River, the White Pass Scenic Byway (I-12), and other public and tourist spaces, ruining the scenic charm.

3. Property Value Concerns

  • Decreased Home Values: Studies show that homes near cell towers lose 20% to 35% of their value, as buyers are less likely to invest in properties close to towers.

  • Impact on Local Economy: A drop in property values will affect the local tax base, reducing funding for public services like schools and parks.

4. Safety Concerns

  • Health Impacts: Studies show extensive health risks from long-term exposure to electromagnetic radiation, especially for children and vulnerable populations.

  • Structural Safety: The tower could pose risks from weather damage, fire hazards, or maintenance disruptions in this residential area. It would be in a high-wind area.

  • The private neighborhood road to the proposed site is a steep, winding, one-lane drive where pedestrians and children enjoy walking, regularly.
