About the Project
Lewis County for Safe Tech is a citizen-led initiative working to stop the construction of a 150-foot Verizon Wireless cell tower proposed at 262 Skyview Drive in Mossyrock, WA. The proposed cell tower would be sited just 300 feet from nearby homes, in a quiet, forested area. This industrial wireless facility brings serious concerns for health, safety, property values, and our rural quality of life.
The project is being advanced without adequate community input or transparency. We are organizing to hold the county accountable and to ensure residents’ rights are protected.

Why We Oppose the Cell Tower
1. Location Concerns
Too Close to Homes and Schools: The proposed tower is dangerously close to homes, schools, daycare centers, and parks, disrupting the peaceful environment that residents and families enjoy.
Impact on Daily Life: Families will avoid parks and playgrounds near the tower, which will drastically reduce community engagement and neighborhood liveliness.
2. Aesthetic Concerns
Visual Pollution: The industrial design of the tower will clash with our community’s natural beauty, creating an eyesore that will dominate the skyline.
Destroying Scenic Views: This tall, imposing structure will be visible from homes, parks, and public spaces, ruining the scenic charm we’ve worked hard to preserve.
3. Property Value Concerns
Decreased Home Values: Studies show that homes near cell towers lose 20% to 35% of their value, as buyers are less likely to invest in properties close to towers.
Impact on Local Economy: A drop in property values will affect the local tax base, reducing funding for public services like schools and parks.
4. Safety Concerns
Health Impacts: Studies show extensive health risks from long-term exposure to electromagnetic radiation, especially for children and vulnerable populations.
Structural Safety: The tower could pose risks from weather damage, fire hazards, or maintenance disruptions in this residential area.
